Draft for review

This describes ExamKind as it works today, while accounts and some other features are switched off. It is waiting for a final read by our solicitors, and the wording may change.

In short

These terms apply when you use examkind.com. The short version:

  • Anyone can read ExamKind and use our free tools. There are no accounts yet, so you never need to sign up.
  • We check admissions facts against official sources and show when we checked them. Schools and councils make the decisions, so always confirm a deadline or rule with them before you act on it.
  • ExamKind is free. If we ever offer paid plans, you will see their terms before you pay.
  • Please use ExamKind fairly: don't try to break it, misuse other people's information or use it to do anything unlawful.
  • Our admissions data is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0. See our open data.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and ExamKind. They cover our website and our free tools. By using examkind.com you agree to them.

Our privacy notice explains how we use personal information, and our cookies page lists every cookie we use. They are separate from these terms.

Using our information

We work hard to keep ExamKind accurate. Every admissions fact links to the official source it came from and shows the date we checked it. But admissions rules, dates and scores can change, and the school, council or test provider always has the final say.

  • Before you act on a date, deadline or rule, check it on the official website we link to.
  • Our information is general. It is not legal, financial or professional advice for your family's situation.
  • Tools such as the score interpreter give estimates and ranges from published data. They don't predict any decision a school or council will make.

If you spot a mistake, please tell us. We aim to correct confirmed mistakes within 48 hours, and we list every correction publicly.

ExamKind is independent. We are not part of any school, council or test provider, and nobody pays us to feature them. We don't show adverts or use affiliate links.

Using ExamKind fairly

When you use ExamKind, please don't:

  • try to get into information that isn't yours, or test our security in ways our security policy doesn't allow;
  • overload the website, for example with automated requests at a rate that slows it down for other people;
  • use ExamKind, or our forms, to break the law, or to harass, threaten or mislead anyone.

Read our security policy. If someone breaks these terms, we may block their access to the website or our forms.

Reusing our content

Our admissions data, such as dates, test formats and published scores, is free to reuse under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0). Please credit ExamKind and link to the page you used. Downloads are on our open data page.

The rest of ExamKind, including our guides, design and logo, belongs to us. You are welcome to link to any page and to quote short passages with a link back. Please ask us before copying more than that.

Price and paid plans

ExamKind is free to use. If we add paid plans, they will have their own subscription terms, including how to cancel, and you will see them before you pay. Nothing you have today will start costing money without your agreement.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under UK consumer law, or limits our responsibility in any way the law does not allow.

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or not using reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.

ExamKind gives general information about the 11+ and school admissions. Decisions about tests, places and appeals are made by schools, councils and test providers, and we are not responsible for those decisions.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Accounts and other features

Accounts, email alerts and the parent community are not available yet. When they launch, we will publish new terms that cover them, and we will ask you to accept them when you create an account.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as ExamKind changes. We publish every new version on this page before it takes effect, and every version has a number.
