What does a re-mark check?
A re-mark checks that your child's answers were marked correctly. It is not a second chance to sit the test, and it does not look at how your child felt on the day. The test is set and marked by GL AssessmentSEAG (Northern Ireland): Setter markerChecked 9 Oct 2026 against SEAG (Schools' Entrance Assessment Group).The source says: The SEAG Entrance Assessment is being set and marked by GL Assessment.

How do I ask for a re-mark?
- Log in to your SEAG account once the re-mark window opens. SEAG says parents and guardians submit the request online.
- Choose which paper to re-mark. You can ask for Paper 1, Paper 2 or both.
- Pay the fee. SEAG charges a fee for each paper re-marked. It is refunded if the re-mark changes the Total Standardised Age Score, up or down. Check the current fee on SEAG's assessment guide before you apply.
- Submit before the deadline: Wednesday 3 February 2027SEAG (Northern Ireland): Remark closesChecked 9 Oct 2026 against SEAG (Schools' Entrance Assessment Group).The source says:

Should we ask for a re-mark?
That is your decision. It may be worth thinking about if:
- your child's score is very different from what you, or their teacher, expected;
- your child remembers a specific problem, such as answers marked in the wrong place on the answer sheet;
- the score is close to a level that matters for a school you want.
A re-mark is unlikely to change much if your child simply found the test hard. Remember that schools use results in different ways, so look at each school's criteria with your child's current score before deciding. Our list of Northern Ireland grammar schools links to each school's admissions criteria.
What should we do while we wait?

Looking after your child
Whatever the result, a score is a snapshot of two mornings, not a measure of your child. Try to keep conversations about re-marks between adults, and give your child time before you talk about schools. Our guide to keeping perspective may help.
