How far offers reached

Each bar shows how far from Ripon Grammar School the last child offered a place lived, under the last admission rule the offers reached. Up to five years, on one scale.

Qualifying is not the same as being offered a place.

Reaching the school's standard means your child can be considered. If more children qualify than there are places, the school gives places using its admission rules, in order. The figures below show how far those rules reached in past years. They are history, not a prediction: they change every year with who applies.

About these figures

Ripon has no fixed pass mark. The council sets a cut-off mark each year so that the top 28% (or as near to that as possible) of Year 6 children living in the Ripon selective area reach it. Children from outside the area must reach the same mark. Reaching it makes a child eligible, not certain of a placeRipon Grammar School: Qualifying rule (2027)Checked 10 Oct 2026 against North Yorkshire Council. The source says: The results of the Ripon Grammar selection tests are used to find the highest scoring 28% or as close as possible of the year 6 cohort who live in the Ripon area. The number of children this percentage figure identifies sets the cut-off mark and the standard which children must reach to be considered as suitable for entry into Ripon Grammar School.View the official source. The mark therefore moves with how well local children score in a given year.

All three marks come from the old papers. The new Verbal Skills and maths-based papers were first used in September 2026, so the mark for 2027 entry may not follow the same pattern. Treat these figures as a guide, not a promise.
