Notice the order. Stage 1 results arrive before the council deadline, but Stage 2 comes after it. You will know whether your son reached Stage 2 when you fill in the council form, but not his final position. Bromley has no shared 11+, so St. Olave's runs its own entrance test, separate from the one at Newstead Wood. How the St. Olave's ranking works

There is no pass mark at St. Olave's in the usual sense. Its rule for 2027 entry reads: Stage 1 SET: the top 450 are invited to Stage 2 and are deemed to meet the minimum standard; places are then allocated by final rank order after Stage 2 and parental preference on the CAF. So Stage 1 is a gate. Reaching Stage 2 shows a boy has met the school's minimum standard, but the offers follow the final order once Stage 2 is marked. How the two stages combine into that final order is written in the school's admissions policy, which we were not able to check. Read it on the St. Olave's website rather than relying on second-hand accounts of the weighting.

Please be realistic. Places here follow a strict ranking, and the council's figures above show that none of the St. Olave's appeals heard for 2026 entry was upheld. A sensible second choice on your council form will usually do more for your son than a plan to appeal.
