What the score means
The CSSE makes no offer to a child whose total standardised score is below 303Essex and Southend (CSSE): Qualifying scoreChecked 9 Oct 2026 against Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex (CSSE).The source says: CSSE secondary school offers are not made to any child who has scored under a total standardised score of 303.
View the official source. Southend-on-Sea City Council says that if your child did not reach the pass mark, a selective school will refuse a place, and only children who meet the pass mark can join a selective waiting list.
A score at or above that minimum means your child can be considered for a selective place. It is not an offer. Each school then uses the test score to allocate places, but how it does so varies, so read each school's admissions rules.
