More about entry from our guide

St James has two main ways in: Year 7 at 11+ and the Sixth Form at 16+. It runs its own Year 7 admissions. Its pages make no mention of the London 11+ Consortium, and the Consortium's own list of schools does not include St James. So the shared Consortium test is not part of applying here.

A change to note. St James is planning to become co-educational, one year group at a time. The first boys would join Year 7 and the Sixth Form with September 2027 entrySt James Senior Girls' School: Coeducation fromChecked 10 Oct 2026 against St James Senior Girls' School. The source says: 2027/28: Year 7 and Year 12View the official source. The school says the plan still needs approval from the Department for Education. If you have a son, ask the admissions team how this affects an application now.

St James interviews every applicant. It says the aim is to get to know the whole child, not just her marks. The interview can fall before or after exam day, depending on which date you are given.
