How far offers reached

Each bar shows how far from Tiffin School the last child offered a place lived, under the last admission rule the offers reached. Up to five years, on one scale.

Qualifying is not the same as being offered a place.

Reaching the school's standard means your child can be considered. If more children qualify than there are places, the school gives places using its admission rules, in order. The figures below show how far those rules reached in past years. They are history, not a prediction: they change every year with who applies.

Applications and offers, September 2026 entry (Department for Education)

How many families applied to Tiffin School and how many places it offered. Applicants per place is all applications divided by offers. Families apply to several schools and not every applicant qualifies, so it is not the chance of a place.

About these figures

Tiffin publishes its own figures each year. The "lowest score offered" below is the Combined Score of the last boy offered a place on National Offer Day. Later offers from the waiting list can reach a little lower, which is why the school also prints a cut-off score measured at the end of Year 7.

The school's other published figures, year by year:

  • 2026 entry: Cut off score (lowest score achieved by a student offered a place by the end of Y7): 98; Students eligible for Pupil Premium (or similar) funding offered a place (includes offers later declined): 15; Number of appeals heard: 16; Number of successful appeals: 0; Places offered outside the 10 km Priority Area: 0Tiffin School 2026 entry: OtherChecked 9 Oct 2026 against Tiffin School. The source says: Cut off score (the lowest score achieved by a student 98 98 102 offered a place by the end of Y7) Number of students eligible for Pupil Premium (or similar) funding who were 15 11 6 offered a place* Number of appeals heard 16 3 9 Number of successful appeals 0 0 0View the official source

What this shows: only a small share of the boys who sit Stage One receive an offer, and no place in these years went to a boy outside the Priority Area. The cut-off moves with the whole group's performance, so treat past scores as a guide, not a promise. More years and schools are in our 11+ cut-offs dataset.

Notes on these dates

Tiffin's 11+ exam dates and deadlines, with the council steps that sit around them:

Two 2027-entry dates show as awaiting confirmation because Tiffin's own documents give different days for them: the registration deadline (now passed) and the day Stage Two invitations go out. Tiffin tells families about Stage Two invitations directly, so look out for its message rather than relying on one fixed date.

The council form closes before Stage Two is sat. That means you name Tiffin on your home council's application without knowing the final result. Our Kingston dates page keeps both Tiffin schools' timetables side by side.

How the Tiffin ranking works

No score "passes" the Tiffin test. Boys are put in order of their final score and offered places from the top, within the school's priority groups. The school's rule reads: Places allocated in rank order of Combined Score by selection criteria. Priority groups B (LAC/PLAC, Pupil Premium in Priority Area) and E (sport/music aptitude) must score at or above the 450th ranked Combined Score of all who sat Stage Two. No fixed pass mark.Tiffin School: Qualifying rule (2027)Checked 9 Oct 2026 against Tiffin School. The source says: B: To boys whose combined score is higher than or equal to the 450th ranked Combined Score of all applicants who sat the Stage Two Test in the following order of priority:View the official source

The final score is built like this: Combined Score = 50% English + 50% Maths. English component = Stage Two English score; Maths component combines Stage One and Stage Two Maths scores in the ratio 2:3. Scores standardised and age weighted.Tiffin School: Score composition (2027)Checked 9 Oct 2026 against Tiffin School. The source says: The Combined Score will be comprised 50% English and 50% Maths. The English component will be the Stage Two English score; the Maths component will combine the scores ... from the Stage One and the Stage Two Tests in the ratio 2:3.View the official source In plain terms, Stage Two carries most of the weight. The English mark comes only from Stage Two, and Stage Two also counts for more than Stage One in the maths mark. A good Stage One result gets a boy to Stage Two, but it does not decide the outcome by itself. (PAN, used in the rules, is the published admission number: the number of Year 7 places.)
